Conference Presentation on RegJoint™ Implant Use in Foot Osteoarthritis (2024)
Researchers Altemeier, Richter, Ettinger, Stukenborg-Colsman, and Plaaß presented at the Fußkongress 2024 in Kassel on the effectiveness of resection arthroplasty using the RegJoint™ implant for osteoarthritis in the 4th and 5th tarsometatarsal joints (TMT IV/V). These lateral joints require preserved mobility, making fusion surgery not always ideal.
In a multicenter study involving 19 patients with a minimum follow-up of 12 months, the results showed:
- Significant improvement in pain and daily function
- No improvement in athletic performance
- No radiological signs of degeneration or progressive arthrosis
The study concludes that resection arthroplasty with RegJoint™ is a promising symptomatic treatment option for TMT IV/V osteoarthritis, especially when joint mobility is a priority.
