RegJoint™ midterm clinical results in MCP joint (2009)

This midterm follow-up study evaluated the use of bioabsorbable polylactide scaffold implants (RegJoint™) in metacarpophalangeal joint arthroplasty for patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Key findings:

  • Patients experienced significant pain relief and functional improvement.
  • The implant preserved joint mobility and contributed to better quality of life compared to traditional methods.
  • Tissue reactions to the implant were mild and manageable, with no serious complications.
  • Radiological assessments showed no adverse tissue changes or implant degradation issues.

Conclusion:
RegJoint™ is a promising option for MCP joint reconstruction in rheumatoid patients, especially when maintaining mobility is a priority.
